[ it's a strange and meandering set of unlikely circumstances that's landed them both here, at a cheery, sprawling carnival-funfair on an unseasonably cool summer evening. still, it's a good break from the muggy summer nights, and aerith, in a strappy sundress and high spirits, is eager to introduce rufus to a whole new different world.
shinra might have taken quite the tumble, but they're steadily rebuilding and aerith is still pretty sure that the man hasn't so much as stepped onto such fairgrounds where he isn't a vip or insulated away from the crowd. tonight, they're just a part of all of them, and despite her complicated feelings for rufus, she's... happy.
he's proven to be much better company than she'd thought he would be, a kinder person than she assumed (although he's still absolutely infuriating sometimes) and has his moments. rufus is... exciting, not boring. he's challenging, smart and sharp in the way so few people are, and that in itself is dangerous, moreso when she's drawn to it like trouble.
tonight, however, she isn't thinking about any of these things. she's excited by the lights, the food, the games and the rides, and as she (a connoisseur of all things junky and unhealthy) gets herself a snack unhealthy enough to give lesser men a heart attack, she's peeling the grease-filled paper back from the snack to take a bite into the fried twinkie. ]
Mmmm!
[ good. so good. rufus has escaped death a couple of times, he'd probably escape this one, too. she offers it to him. ] Try it, it's delicious!
[What originally was a setup to torment Cloud and Tseng has definitely become something... more. Even unexpected to someone like Rufus Shinra, who battled both Diamond Weapon and Geostigma and still managed to come out on top. Oh, not that he's complaining, far from it, actually. To have the Ancient actually have feelings towards him is something too amusing to simply ignore or pass up.
Plus, tormenting Cloud and Tseng even more. Maybe even the rest of Cloud's merry crew.
Besides, she's actually enjoyable company. Far from the boring, 'perfect Ancient,' Aerith certainly has a fire to her, a certain gremlin energy that Rufus cannot help but respect. It's certainly not a chore to be with her on an actual date here. And while Rufus has certainly been less excited by the atmosphere and activities surrounding them, the Shinra heir isn't unpleasant company either. He was raised to be a leader, someone that draws others in, and it's one of the trainings that he's taken to heart.
...Still, even with all of Rufus' charisma, he can't stop himself from looking a little disgusted by the snack Aerith has unraveled.]
It looks revolting.
[A fried twinkie. Who comes up with food like this?] Is this truly the best this place has to offer?
rufus.
